The shoot with Cobi on Sunday went really well with the little man smiling for an hour and a half before needing a well earned nap! I managed to get a good variety of images with Cobi and my new lighting kit, the Elinchrome D-lite 4 kit, which worked brilliantly. Most of the shoot only required one light apart from the shot on the bed with the second light backlighting the sheet behind Cobi. All the final images are displayed in the Children section of my website. Editing was nice and easy although there was a slight hitch trying to get photoshop to open the raw files, but after a quick visit to the adobe website and a raw plug-in download later everything is now back to normal again.
The only editing the images needed was to clone out the distracting door handles in the background and to straighten a few of them up! Shooting with kids is fast work and sometimes post processing is a life saver to straighten up those wonky shots unless you are going for a contemporary shot!
I only used half of the props that I brought with me to the shoot and still got a good amount of images to work with which is nice because I wasn't sure if I would have enough props.
I used a Nikon D90 to shoot on the day which I borrowed from a fellow photographer: www.flickr.com/tomlamb
The wireless flash trigger was an invaluable tool on the day as it reduced the risk of the little one tripping on any wires and it made it so much easier for me to move around.
